Real Introduction

To everyone who may be reading this I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you before we get down to the messy business of a clan application. I noticed that while your application was very in depth with certain questions and required quite a lot of thought they still failed to ask about me as a person outside of tremulous. I am a very active and fun loving individual with what I consider to be a good sense of humor balanced with a stern calmness when needed. I am a studious teenager and while many might call me a genius or something to that effect I am far from it. I may take difficult classes and do fairly well in them but that is only because I work my ass of to do that. On the other side I am a physically fit individual standing at 5'11" and weighing 160 lbs. I was the captain of my varsity soccer team, top member on my high school ski team in both slalom and giant slalom races, and the leading petty officer in a paramilitary group called the Sea Cadets. I have received a black belt in one form of Karate, have a brown belt in Judo, passed my Advanced Scuba Certification, and am currently working on my Private Pilot's License having just completed my FAA ground school course work. After graduating this year I am looking forward to attending MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) with a NROTC scholarship to help pay the tuition. However despite my achievements I take pride in being one of the most humble people I know and never once have I caught myself bragging to other people or feeling superior in anyway to anyone else. My personal opinion is that my achievements have all come together to make me who I am and without them I would be a very different person. My goal with this introduction is not to show off or boast but instead to allow all of you to understand a little more about me and what makes up my character so that we all can know each other for who we truly are, instead just some on screen name with a large amount of kills. I have chosen to apply to this clan not because I think it is the best clan (though it might be) but because I feel like it has the best members and I want to be a part of that family.

What will you bring to the table for Seeds?
There are many things that I can bring to the table both metaphorically and physically. I am perfectly capable of bringing almost any form of sustenance or entertainment to a table for your enjoyment provided I have the means to pay for it. However when it comes to the metaphorical table I am not quite as exemplary. I will be able to assist in the acquiring of a professional server financially however my knowledge of coding for tremulous is somewhat limited. I mainly specialize in binds and other neat tricks which I am more than happy to share (See amazing alien binds). My other great asset is my knowledge of most things school related. I am currently a senior in high school and during the last 13 years of education I have completed many courses and I have done fairly well in all of them. I am confident that I will be able to assist most of you with school considering it is something most of have to balance with Tremulous.

Describe to us, what you think makes a prestigious gamer?
My idea of a prestigious gamer is a person with both good morals, calm demeanor, and better than average skill. It is important for people who are good at this game to remember and be mindful of people who are new to this game. I am not sure how else to state this so here is goes? Tremulous is dying out as we speak and most of us realize that it takes dedication to get good at this game. However if a person?s first experience to tremulous is poor because they can not figure out the controls or be allowed to experiment and learn then they will most likely drop this game and find a new one that is more popular. If we are going to keep tremulous alive we need to reach out to the people who have less skill and attempt to impart our knowledge on to them. Flaming, posturing, and showing off have no place in this game. If you are good then people will know that and there is no need to remind others of that fact. I also think that skill is part of what makes a prestigious gamer but it is the least important aspect. It is necessary to stand out and there is nothing wrong with being good at the game. In fact skill will add to your reputation and your prestige but it still will not excuse faults in the other categories mentioned earlier. Also skill after a certain point is almost impossible to measure due to the lack of tournaments and the inaccuracy of one on one fights. If anything the only use of a one on one fight is to test a person?s ingenuity and give some indication of their skill level.

What other clans have you been in, or applied for?
My clan resume is very slim; however, here it is. I have been in (C) (Clockwork), |CC| (Cruel Conduct) and <) (Blood). However I have applied to many clans and have had the misfortune of applying at the same time that the clan dies. First I applied to FH and I believe that the forum had been dead for a while but I did not even check. As far as I know it was never commented on once. Then I applied to CTU and got similar results in that my application was never commented on. However Bauer did say to me that I he had accepted me but I was never added to the roster so in my mind I only applied to this clan. Then I applied to Seeds during its long hibernation and was once again forced to find an active clan to apply to. Then I found Sv in November of last year. I applied there and after spamming their forums and displaying my complete lack of skill I was declined. After the reality sank in that I was not good I began to train. Then one day I stumbled across |CC| and after playing with them for a while I applied and was accepted. Then it died in December. About that same time I applied to Sigma and after being tested by tibs I realized that I did not have the skill to play in that clan and I retracted my app. Following that I wandered around for a little and attempted to find a new clan when I was invited to join Clockwork. They took me in an I played with them for a while but then a short while later the leaders of the clan left tremulous and I too decided to take a break to focus on my schooling. Alas those of us who have tried to quit are well aware that it eventually draws you back in. As a result I found myself playing again under a new name with a fresh start and got the chance to meet several of the members from Seeds. After hanging out with them and feeling the clan out I have now decided to apply. Am I going to get declined because I am in this {>} clan what ever it is?

In your mind do you think you are a good Tremulous Player?
No I am far from a good tremulous player in terms of skill. I have played this game for a while and almost every month I find out something new. There is boundless room for improvement. I realized this when I applied to Sv and was declined and then later when I played against tibs during my application to Sigma. There are many things for me to improve and at no point do will I ever think that I am a good tremulous player. I may be average or may be slightly above average but I am constantly reminded of my less than exemplary skill when I face Shade and Sonic or the one time where is had the misfortune of playing against (><)3of12. One thing that I do have though that I believe sets me apart from most of the tremulous players out there is my willingness to help out other people. I will gladly help anyone who is struggling with the basics of this game and do my best to teach them the finer points of this game that we all were forced to learn mainly on our own.

Message From Panda

As many of you know I am actually a member of Seeds of Rebellion and I am very proud to be a part of this group. The members here are great and wonderful people to hang out with. Because of the new application process created by Mr. Moose and the rather poor examples of applications in the past I decided to "remake" my application and to serve as an example for what to do. However you all should know that it takes more than a well written and thought out application to get accepted to this clan. One needs to meet the members, be active in game and on the forums, participate in discussions (make sure that what you are going to say is important or we will be annoyed), act with maturity and everything that that entails, and show us who you really are. Most of us will see through pathetic attempts at being nice and sucking up to members will not get you in. In the end it is most important to be honest about everything. If you make a mistake own up to it, and whatever you do don't lie about anything in your application or we will find out and you will be punished (i.e. Don't claim you were in clans that you were not in). Also make sure that you use acceptable grammar. If English is not your primary language let us know and we will be more lineate especially if you are showing visible signs of improvement. However for all of you who have no such excuse take a little bit of time and make your sentences make sense. Spelling is important as well, take a little time to spell your words correctly but we won't beat you up for occasional typos (especially in game). Punctuation is less important for most of us, commas are not that important but periods are and please don't make some stupid run on sentence. That makes me cringe inside. If you follow my advice, work hard, pay attention, use that thing inside your skull, and have a semi decent character then your odds of being accepted will go up drastically.

Props for reading this whole thing and I commend any and all of you who actually read it all. I know most of you will only glance at it. Make it obvious that you read this whole thing by using it and you will get my respect and most likely my vote. (Believe me I will know if you read the whole thing or if you skimmed through it)
