Tibs, believe it or not, my parents are asian as well.  For 4 years, they disallowed any use of computers at all.  I snuck on a lot and learned how to program and design websites.  Then, as soon as I picked up my first PC, a friend and I started a web design business and began earning srs money from it.   Now, my parents are excited everytime I buy something new technology related because they just assume that it'll help pay for college.  That and the fact that they get bragging rights to their friends that I earn more money than most of my teachers at school
